A Love for Orthodontics

My work as an orthodontist is extremely fulfilling, as I have the unique opportunity to change the life of each and every patient who walks through my office door.  The impact of a person’s smile when making a first impression is paramount, and I appreciate my role as an orthodontist to create beautiful smiles for patients to make lasting first impressions.

As an orthodontist, I have the ability to positively change someone’s entire outlook on life by enhancing his or her smile.  I consider it an honor that the people of Youngsville and the Acadiana area entrust me with that responsibility for themselves and especially for their children.  My goal is that each person who walks into the office knows they will be treated as a member of my own family, because over the course of treatment, that’s exactly the type of relationship we will build together: one that goes beyond just teeth.  I especially love that our patients come from so many different backgrounds.  As a result, I get to hear many different life stories and adventures, and I even have the opportunity to share some of my own.

Whether boosting one’s confidence or creating an unforgettable smile, orthodontics changes lives.  There is no better moment than seeing a patient’s first reaction when I remove their braces.  It’s priceless!

Education and Commitment to Continuing Education

I graduated from Carencro High School and then attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where I received an undergraduate degree in Biology.  I then enrolled at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, where I was awarded my Doctorate of Dental Surgery.  I was subsequently accepted into and began a two-year post-doctoral specialty program in Orthodontics at LSU and earned my Certificate in Orthodontics.

Continuing education is essential for every oral healthcare professional.  It’s essential to remain at the forefront of changes in our field, from the new technologies coming on the market to developments in treatment methodologies and philosophies.  Only by staying abreast of the changes am I able to provide my patients with the highest quality of orthodontic care.  Therefore, each year I pursue many hours of continuing education courses, through attendance at conferences, meetings, and lectures, in addition to reading the current orthodontic journals and literature.

Away from the Office

My husband, Shaun, and I have been married for fourteen years; we have four daughters and a sweet fox red Labrador Retriever.  I prefer to spend my leisure time with family, especially going to seasonal fairs and enjoying outdoor activities, including playing fetch with our lab.  I’ve been known to escape into a good mystery novel, too.
